How to turn on cruise control on Honda CR-V 2019?

The 2019 Honda CR-V supports Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) on trims equipped with Honda Sensing and standard cruise control on models without ACC. Here’s how to engage whichever system your vehicle has, plus safety tips to use cruise control responsibly.

Identify which system you have

Most higher trims (EX, EX-L, Touring) include Honda Sensing with Adaptive Cruise Control, while the LX model may not. If you’re unsure, look for the Honda Sensing indicators on the dashboard or consult the owner’s manual or window sticker to confirm ACC availability.

Adaptive Cruise Control (Honda Sensing) — how to enable

Use these steps to activate ACC if your CR-V is equipped with Honda Sensing.

  1. Start the vehicle and reach your desired speed on a clear road.

  2. Press the MAIN button on the right side of the steering wheel to enable Honda Sensing and Adaptive Cruise Control. The ACC indicator should illuminate on the instrument cluster.

  3. Press the RES/SET button to set the current speed. You can also accelerate to your preferred speed and then press RES/SET.

  4. Use the + and − controls to adjust the set speed while ACC is active.

  5. Tap the Distance button to select a following distance from the available presets.

  6. To cancel ACC, press the CANCEL button or lightly brake; to turn ACC off completely, press the MAIN button again or switch off the ignition.

Note: ACC will adjust your speed to maintain the chosen following distance from the vehicle ahead and can assist in stop-and-go traffic under appropriate conditions. Always stay attentive and ready to take control when needed.

Standard Cruise Control — how to activate (no ACC)

If your CR-V does not have Honda Sensing, you can still use traditional cruise control with these steps.

  1. Drive to your desired cruising speed.

  2. Press the ON or CRUISE button on the right side of the steering wheel to turn the system on. The cruise indicator should appear in the instrument cluster.

  3. Press the SET/− button to set your current speed; release the accelerator gently after setting.

  4. Use the + RES button to resume or increase speed after braking or temporarily lifting off the accelerator.

  5. To cancel, press CANCEL or tap the brake pedal; you can also switch the system off by pressing the ON/CRUISE button again.

Note: This is a basic speed-holding function without adaptive following. Maintain attention and be prepared to intervene if traffic requires.

Safety reminders and tips

Before using cruise control, familiarize yourself with the road, traffic conditions, and local laws. Do not rely on cruise control in heavy traffic, on winding roads, or in adverse weather. Always keep both hands on the wheel and eyes on the road, ready to take control if necessary.

Summary: The 2019 Honda CR-V offers Adaptive Cruise Control via Honda Sensing on eligible trims and standard cruise control on others. Activate ACC with the MAIN button, set speed with RES/SET, and adjust following distance with Distance. On non-ACC models, use the ON and SET/− controls and cancel with CANCEL or brake. Always use cruise control responsibly and stay alert to road conditions.
