What you’ll need
- Two new front wiper blades (driver side about 26 inches; passenger side about 17 inches; verify exact sizes before purchasing)
- limpi microfiber cloth or soft rag to wipe the blade area
- Optional: a small flathead screwdriver for difficult caps or release tabs
- Gloves or a clean rag to protect your hands and the windshield
Step-by-step replacement
- Park on a flat surface, turn off the ignition, and gently lift the driver-side wiper arm away from the windshield so it holds in a vertical position.
- Inspect the attachment at the end of the wiper blade. If your blade uses a releasable adapter, locate the release tab or button on the blade’s connector. For a J-hook style, you’ll often press the tab and slide the blade down and off the hook; for a pin or adaptor style, press the release and pull the blade away from the arm.
- Remove the old blade from the wiper arm. Take care not to let the arm snap back against the windshield, which could crack the glass. If there is a protective cover, pry it off gently to expose the release mechanism.
- Compare the old blade to the new one to confirm length and connector type. If needed, switch to the correct adapter that ships with your new blade so it will fit your G37’s wiper arm.
- Attach the new blade to the arm. For a J-hook, slide the blade onto the hook until it clicks into place; for a pin/adapter style, align the connector with the arm and press until you hear or feel a lock engage. Ensure the blade is securely seated and can’t be pulled off with light tugging.
- Return the wiper arm to the windshield. Gently lower it back onto the glass so the blade rests flush with the surface. If you replaced both blades, repeat the process for the passenger side blade.
- Test the wipers. Turn on the ignition and run the wipers a couple of cycles to confirm full contact with the windshield and check for streaks or skipping. If streaking occurs, you may need to reseat the blade or adjust the alignment.
Common pitfalls and tips
- Always verify blade length and connector type before purchase to avoid mismatches.
- Be careful when lifting the wiper arm; it can spring back toward the windshield suddenly.
- Ensure the blade is fully seated and locked into the arm’s connector before testing.
- Wipe the blade and the windshield area with a microfiber cloth to remove any grit that could cause streaks.
Blade sizes and compatibility notes
- Driver side blade: approximately 26 inches
- Passenger side blade: approximately 17 inches
