Can you fit a 4x8 sheet of plywood in a Honda Ridgeline?

In brief, no. A standard 4x8 sheet (96 by 48 inches) cannot lie flat inside a Honda Ridgeline’s cargo bed in typical configurations. The bed is about 63 inches long, and the usable width is limited by the wheel wells, making it shorter than the sheet's length and wider than the bed’s practical width. Even with the tailgate down, the interior diagonal clearance falls short of 96 inches. If you must transport plywood, cutting it or using an alternate carriage method is usually required.

Bed specifications and what they mean for plywood

To understand why a full 4x8 sheet won't fit, here are the bed dimensions and how they constrain loading a sheet of plywood in a Ridgeline.

Key measurements

  • Bed length (floor to tailgate): about 63 inches (5 ft 3 in).

  • Usable width between inner walls (wheel wells intrude): about 44 inches.

  • Estimated maximum interior diagonal across the bed: around 77 inches, well short of 96 inches.

These figures show why a 4x8 sheet cannot lie flat inside the Ridgeline bed. The sheet’s 96-inch length far exceeds the bed’s internal diagonal, and its 48-inch width is wider than the available width between the wheel wells.

What are your options?

If you need to transport a full 4x8 sheet, consider these approaches:

  • Cut the sheet into two 4x4 panels to carry separately inside the bed and secure them properly.

  • Use an external transport method such as a roof rack with crossbars or a trailer to carry the sheet outside the bed.

  • Rent or borrow a vehicle with a longer bed or a cargo van to transport the sheet in one piece.

Always secure loads properly to prevent damage to the sheet and to other road users. Check local regulations on load overhang and securing methods.

Bottom line

For a typical Honda Ridgeline, a full 4x8 plywood sheet does not fit in the cargo bed. Cutting the sheet or using an alternative transport method is the practical solution.

Summary

The Ridgeline’s bed length and width, constrained by wheel wells, do not accommodate a flat 4x8 sheet. Plan to cut the sheet or use a roof rack, trailer, or a different vehicle for transportation.

Will a 4x8 sheet of plywood fit in a Honda element?

Everything fits in an Element. Except Chuck Norris. Sure, first you need a circular saw, then........ Easily carry a few sheets of 4x8' material, even with seats up against the walls.

Can you fit a sheet of plywood in a Honda Ridgeline?

I have a Honda Ridgeline (unibody pickup) that is both smaller and more fuel efficient than a full-sized pickup. And unlike a full sized pickup, 4x8 sheet goods fit between the wheel wells and lay flat on the bed floor. That said, the bed isn't 8' long so part of the sheet will be exposed, even with a tonneau cover.

Can a 4x8 sheet of plywood fit in a Honda Pilot?

In a 2019 Honda Pilot. What you have to do. Put the headrests all the way up. And then you're going to rest the plywood on top of the headrests.

How to haul plywood in a pickup truck?

In a Pick-up Truck
To transport plywood, lay it flat in the truck bed and secure it with tie-downs or ratchet straps to prevent movement. If any sheets overhang, use a red flag to alert other drivers.
