Where is the fuse box in a 2014 Honda CR-V?

The 2014 Honda CR-V has two primary fuse boxes: one under the hood in the engine compartment (the Power Distribution Box) and one inside the cabin on the driver’s side lower dash. Both covers carry diagrams that map each fuse to its function.

Locations at a glance

Here is where to find the two main fuse boxes and what they typically cover in a US-spec CR-V from that year.

  • Under-hood fuse box (Power Distribution Box) — located in the engine compartment on the driver’s side, near the front of the engine bay. The cover is labeled and contains a diagram showing each fuse and relay. This box handles many essential electrical circuits such as lighting, engine sensors, and power distribution for other modules.

  • Interior fuse box — located on the driver’s side of the dash, inside the cabin. Access is gained by removing the small cover on the lower portion of the dash near the steering column. The lid includes a fuse diagram, and a built-in fuse puller is usually stored in or with the panel.

Across these two panels, most of the CR-V’s primary electrical circuits are protected, and the diagrams on the lids (or in the owner's manual) identify which fuse protects which system.

Under-hood fuse box: Access and use

To view or replace fuses in the Power Distribution Box, follow these basic steps:

  • Open the hood and locate the black plastic cover labeled Power Distribution Box.

  • Remove the cover by lifting the tab or gently pulling up on the edge to expose the fuses and relays.

  • Consult the diagram on the underside of the lid to identify the fuse corresponding to the affected system.

  • Use a fuse puller (often built into the interior fuse box lid) or a pair of needle-nose pliers to remove the fuse.

  • Replace it with a fuse of the same amperage rating, then reinstall the cover and close the hood.

Note: Always replace fuses with the same amperage rating. If a fuse continues to blow after replacement, stop driving and seek professional service to diagnose a potential short or faulty component.

Interior fuse box: Access and use

To view or replace fuses in the interior fuse box, follow these steps:

  • Enter the vehicle and locate the lower dash panel on the driver’s side; gently remove the cover to access the fuses.

  • Refer to the diagram on the inside of the cover to identify the fuse for the affected interior or dashboard circuit.

  • Take out the faulty fuse with the fuse puller and replace it with a fuse of the same amperage rating.

  • Reinstall the cover and verify the system functions again.

As with the under-hood box, do not exceed the specified amperage and consult the manual if you’re unsure about a circuit function.

What to do if a fuse keeps blowing

Fuses are safety devices meant to protect wiring and components. If a fuse blows repeatedly, follow these guidelines:

  • Identify the circuit and inspect the related device for signs of damage or a short.

  • Replace the blown fuse with another of the same amperage rating and test the system.

  • If the fuse blows again, disconnect the suspected device and seek professional inspection to diagnose a short or faulty component.

Persistent fuse problems can indicate an underlying electrical fault. In such cases, a qualified technician should diagnose and repair the issue to prevent further damage.

Summary

For a 2014 Honda CR-V, the fuse boxes are primarily located under the hood (Power Distribution Box) and inside the cabin on the driver’s side lower dash (Interior fuse box). Both have diagrams on their covers to help identify which fuse protects each system. If a fuse blows, replace it with the same amperage and consult a professional if the problem recurs.
