Is Honda going to make the Fit again?

The short answer: there is no official plan to bring back the Honda Fit.

However, Honda’s global lineup and strategy continue to evolve, and the Jazz (the name used outside the US for the Fit) remains in production in several markets with hybrid options. Any decision to re-enter the small-hatch segment in the US would depend on market demand, electrification strategy and overall product planning.

Current status of the Fit/Jazz

In the United States, Honda phased out the Fit after the 2019/2020 model year, shifting emphasis to crossovers such as the HR-V, Civic, and CR-V. There is no announced timetable for a US return of a small hatchback.

In other regions, the Jazz continues to be sold, often with hybrid powertrains and ongoing updates. Availability and specifications vary by market, reflecting different regulatory environments and consumer preferences.

Across the globe, the Jazz/Fit nameplates persist in some markets, underscoring Honda's continued belief in a small-hatch niche outside the US. Here are the broad patterns:

  • Europe and the broader EU markets — the Jazz remains part of Honda's small-car strategy, typically offered with hybrid powertrains.

  • Japan and select Asian markets — Jazz is sold with locally tuned powertrains, including hybrid variants.

  • Other regions — where offered, the Jazz/Fit branding varies by country and regulatory standards.

Note that branding, powertrain options, and availability differ by market.

What Honda is doing instead

Honda is prioritizing electrification and a broader crossover SUV lineup. The company is expanding hybrids and introducing electric models as part of its global strategy, with a focus on practical urban mobility and efficiency. There is no official word yet on a US-focused hatchback revival, and any future small-car entry would depend on market signals and strategic planning.

Possible future scenarios

The following scenarios are speculative and based on industry trends and public statements from Honda. They outline how a revival could occur and what factors would influence it:

  1. Return as a small hatch in one or more markets under a branding strategy different from the historic Fit in the US, potentially as an electrified Jazz variant.

  2. Continue to rely on the Jazz for non-US markets while accelerating electrified options across the lineup, with no direct US return of the Fit in the near term.

  3. Introduce a new, purpose-built small electric hatch as part of Honda’s global electrification push, which may or may not carry the Fit/Jazz branding.

In short, the most probable path appears to be a continued Jazz presence outside the US, with no confirmed plan to reintroduce a US-focused Fit hatch in the near term. Any decision would hinge on market demand, regulatory conditions, and the pace of Honda’s electrification goals.

Summary

  • No official plan to revive the US-spec Honda Fit has been announced.

  • The Jazz continues in several non-US markets, often with hybrid powertrains.

  • Honda’s strategy centers on electrification and crossovers, with any small-hatch revival unlikely to mirror the old Fit in the US market.

  • Watch for formal announcements; future availability will depend on market demand and strategic priorities.

Is Honda remaking the Fit?

Honda is updating the Fit hatchback for China, and it appears to be adding a racing variant. Honda released an updated version of the Fit hatchback for China, with the brand teasing a new race car version of the diminutive car.

Is the Honda Fit coming back in 2026?

The vehicle is planned for release in mid January 2026. And will be produced in a limited run of 3,000 units across China the Honda Fit can be seen as a major facelift of the fourth generation. Model

Why is Honda Fit being discontinued?

Honda found that the HR-V was more profitable and sold even better than the Fit, so they just dedicated the whole factory to HR-V production. Sort of similar to Ford discontinuing the Focus despite it selling fairly well. It was a lot of effort for a narrow profit margin so they shifted into more profitable vehicles.

Will the Honda Fit ever return to the US?

Key Points. The Honda Fit receives a design refresh and hot hatch concept in China. Race-inspired concept showcases visual modifications; production model remains efficiency-focused with 1.5L engine. Fit unlikely to return to the U.S. due to low small car demand.
